Clubs at Northwest

Badminton

Badminton

Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world and shuttles can fly as fast as 320 kilometers per hour.  The Northwest Badminton Club was officially recognized by Student Senate in the spring of 2025.  The club is looking for members to join both informally and in competitions!  The club meets in the Student Recreation Center on campus.

We are a non-competitive club. We meet once a week at Bearcat Lanes, the local bowling alley, and play 3 games and learn more about bowling!

Bearcat Golf Club

Bearcat Golf Club

A partnership with Mozingo Lake Recreation Park Golf Course allows club members to golf, a small bucket of range balls, and use of the simulators for a semesterly fee. With practices daily, the top players have the opportunity to travel to and play in competitions and tournaments representing Northwest. Players not able to make the tournament roster will still practice to one day make the roster. The club is a member of the NCCGA.

Bearcat Winter Guard

Bearcat Winter Guard

Winter guard is an indoor version of color guard. It is derived from military ceremonies and combines the use of flags, mock rifles, sabers and other equipment with interpretative dance. Bearcat Winter Guard perform within MCCGA and WGI.

This organization is to provide baseball players who enjoy the game an opportunity to continue playing after High School with more competition than the intramural level of sports. The club is a member of the NCBA Mid-Atlantic region.

Disc Golf

Disc Golf

Disc Golf is an excellent low-cost activity that provides both exercise and fun.  Join the club playing the casually or travel to competitions around the country.  The Disc Golf Club is part of the PDGA.  Practices are held at the Northwest Disc Golf Course as well as the Mozingo Disc Golf Course.

Esports

The Esports club is open to everyone.  With a variety of both casual and competitive games, all are welcome to join the club. The club's advisor/coach is Andrew Murphy. The school's first Esports facility opened in fall 2020 in the J.W. Jones Student Union.  Events take place in the Esports Lab.

We are a club on campus to help people of all fishing levels increase their fishing skills and meet people with the same interest. We provide access to collegiate fishing tournaments that compete against other colleges nation wide.

The Northwest Men's Club Basketball team is an organization open to students interested in playing basketball competitively on campus.  With both a practice roster and travel roster, the levels of experience and skill differ.  We are a member of the Great Lakes West Conference in the National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA). Tryouts are held each fall. Practices are held in the Student Recreation Center, Lamkin Arena and Martindale Gym.

The Northwest Horsemen's Association seeks to make riding and equine education available to Northwest students through a combination of hands on riding opportunities, educational workshops, and service-learning. The club also acts as Northwest's Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) chapter for students interested in competitive showing.

We are students from Northwest Missouri State University that practice the art of Trapshooting twice a week, taking the top shooters to competitions and Tournaments to represent Northwest. We embrace shooters that want to be competitive, hobbyist or beginners. We want every student to have the opportunity to enjoy shooting sports.

Northwest Wrestling Club is a student sports club. We will be training and competing using folk-style wrestling to compete against other wrestling clubs in the area.  Practices are held at Maryville High School.

FALL 2024 - Disc Golf Club

 

Disc Golf Club members traveled to four events; the Mid-America regional championships, Oklahoma Christian conference event, Midsouth Collegiate open and the College disc golf national championships.  They benefited from group trips, free tournaments and practices, uniforms and had fun!
